Review:

What a fun and sexy read.  It was an easy read without feeling dumbed down, which is a huge plus.  We have our warrior vampire who are all extremely protective of women and children, and Nicole whose life is her job as a social worker for human and vampire children both. Now that the vampire are no longer in hiding the humans have found a way to use their blood to “get a high.”  The blood of younger vampire is prime.  It has become a dangerous line of work now for Nicole.  Can Damon keep her safe and make her his true mate?

Description:

A powerful woman, an extraordinary man, and a maniac who wants to destroy them. Fate has brought them together, but will it make them stronger or destroy them all in end?

Escape to a world where the impossible becomes possible and sparks ignite.

WHISPER CAPE is a town of secrets and Addison MacKenna soon becomes tangled in a web of them. Plagued with nightmares of her father’s sudden and brutal death, Addie struggles with her anguish and refuses to believe his demise was accidental.

Fighting to shake off one of those devastating early morning nightmares, Addison finds it even harder to escape from the vision of a man lying on the side of the road–a man she may have just killed. When she frantically tries to locate him, he seemingly disappears, just the beginning of strange occurrences in her life. She also cannot ignore the weird sensations in her own body. Suddenly, the impossible seems possible, but is that a blessing or a curse?

Believing that her continual and worsening nightmares are both the key to her own new abilities and the clue to her father’s death, Addie knows she will not rest until she has the answers she craves. As she strives to cope with her new remarkable talents, someone else learns of her abilities–a disgruntled maniacal psychopath with his own agenda that involves eliminating Addie. The only one who can protect her, instruct her in the use of her powers and teach her how to destroy the murderous monster is the same man who makes Addie’s heart race and her blood heat with passion. The same man she’d left for dead.

Cael Sheridan may be arrogant and mysterious but he’s also undeniably gorgeous. A member of a secret society, he is sworn to protect the woman he believes to be the daughter of his recently murdered mentor. In the process, he finds it impossible to resist her magnetic sensuality, complicating his efforts to shield and guide her as she learns to manage her newly acquired skills. At the same time, Addison has much to teach him about trust and commitment. Will fate win in the end? You be the judge.

Review:

We have witches, vampire, and hunters.  Annika wants to put the life of a witch behind her since it led to her parents death.  Now who does she trust?  Her new friends or a persistent vampire?  This story is written with a momentum that doesn’t quit.  I found this to be a recipe for no emotional connection to the story or character as you are being rushed through the book.  Everything is written from Annika’s perspective so you do not get any influence from the other characters.  I will say I had no trouble following the story and the point comes across clear.  It did leave me curious as to where the next book could go.

Review:

I thought the second book was much better than the first.  I still felt it moved a little fast, but I finished the book in one day because I wanted to know what happened next! For PNR, there is not actually that much romance, and I would like to see more interaction between Jean-Louis and Maxie.  Although, to be fair, there was more between them in this book than in the first, and I do like how both of them are rubbing off on the other because that is how relationships really are!  I do love how realistic the characters are and how they are evolving to change and grow as individuals, that is a difficult thing to put onto paper.  I look forward to reading more by this writer!

Description:

In the second book of the SNAP Kandesky vampire series, Maxie Gwenoch, media-savvy editor of the multinational celeb gossip magazine SNAP, is pummeled in Paris and kidnapped in Kiev as the Huszars ramp up the race to oust their centuries-old rivals, the Kandeskys.

SNAP’s owners, the Kandesky family of vampires, built the world’s most popular celeb coverage empire but this isn’t just a business take-over. These powerful vampire families lived with an uneasy peace for four centuries until Maxie came in to boost SNAP’s coverage and started making inroads into the Huszar’s traditional hunting territories.

Although Jean-Louis, Maxie’s lover, vampire and second-in-command of the Kandeskys, tries to keep her safe, Maxie is determined to do things her way, a way that may lose her her job, her love and her life.

Review:

I will start by saying that I think that the concept of the story is a great story with quite a bit of potential, and for that, I will give it three out of five.  However, the execution of the writing and how the story was told left much to be desired for me.  One problem I found is that there were so many details that could have been elaborated on and were just glossed over, and for many writers, the devil is in the details.  But, there were just lots of little things that added up too high for me to have an desire to read the follow up stories at this point.

Stay and die…or seek ally in Oria Bay. The choices weren’t to her liking, but Jaymee Caldera meant to survive…no matter what it took. And Oria Bay meant the Village Prime Family and their Alpha, Gideon Westcott, the only people with the strength and power to help her live.

Review:

The book had a very good story line and very realistic characters.  It took me a little bit of time to get into the story, but once I did, I thoroughly enjoyed the book.  I know that I am different in that I will try to read almost anything, but I might not always recommend the book to anyone else.  This is a book I would highly recommend to read because I did enjoy it for the most part.  Like I said, the only draw back for me was that there could have been more detail.  Then again, I enjoyed Great Expectations and Moby Dick (I did say I was strange!).  I have found too many authors have problems with characters being realistic, but they characters were very human, from the emotions to the way they handled situations.  Also, the fact how some one who is hundreds of years old views things very different than someone who is only twenty or thirty years old is well done.  The only thing I was not thrilled about was that there seemed like there could have been more details.  It felt like parts of the story were glossed over.  But, all in all, I did enjoy the book and am looking forward to what happens next in the story!

Description:

SNAP, a multinational celeb TV show and magazine, is the holy grail for Maxie Gwenoch. When she snags the job as managing editor, she’s looking for fame, fortune and Jimmy Choos. What she finds is a media empire owned by Baron Kandesky and his family. A family of vampires. They’re European, urbane, wealthy and mesmerizing. And when she meets Jean-Louis, vampire and co-worker, she’s a goner.

The Kandesky vampire family rose in Hungary centuries ago. They gave up violence and killing to make a killing on the world’s commodities markets and with that beginning they built SNAP, an international celebrity multimedia empire. Now cultured…and having found food substitutes for killing…they’ve cornered the world market for celebrity and gossip journalism.

They haven’t fully left the past behind. Their Hungarian neighbors and rival vampire clan, the Huszars are starting to ramp up attacks, maybe looking to start a war to take over all the Kandeskys have built.

Maxie believes she’s found her ultimate career. She doesn’t realize that she’s found a family feud like none other, a centuries-old rivalry between vampire families, with her as the linchpin. Bells ring with Jean-Louis, but she doesn’t realize they’re alarm sirens until she learns that Jean-Louis is second in command of the Kandeskys…but by then it’s too late.

Once again, Gena has written a story that kept me on the edge of my seat.  I laughed, I cried, I wanted to beat someone with a stick sometimes when they were being horrible, but this books is full of complex emotions that are more than just superficial.  I read the first one and could not put it down and was not disappointed with the second installment.  I am anxiously awaiting the third book in the series so I can find out what happens next!  All in all, I could not have asked for a better story or characters, LOVED IT!

Remember Me, by Cora Brent Reply

How did Book 3 of a motorcycle club romance series make its way into Fanatical Paranormal Romantical you say?

Because, although a couple of the world’s spiritual headliners would say there’s nothing paranormal about past lives playing a major part in our current experience of reality, in our culture-at-large the idea is as much fantasy as shifters and dimension jumping.

This installment of the Defiant Motorcycle Club series is a surprisingly literate tale covering “ONE HUNDRED YEARS, TWO LOVE TRIANGLES, (and) A TIMELESS PASSION”.

I was captivated by the story

and very much appreciated Brent’s skillful interweaving of the two stories set in the same geographical location a hundred years apart.

Following is the official press copy.

Maddox McLeod has always enjoyed the ladies. But a long history of casual lovers masks a cutting betrayal which still wounds him. When Maddox is called back to his hometown of Contention City to tend to his dying father, he must briefly leave his true brothers, the Defiant MC, and confront the agonies of the past. Maddox has spent a decade trying to forget that once there was a girl who held his heart in her hand. And once he had a brother who committed the ultimate treachery.
Contention City itself endures among the ghosts and ruins of the old west. In 1888, young schoolteacher Annika Larson traveled to the Arizona Territory and found herself caught between the passions of two fiery brothers. One a gunslinger, the other a lawman, their differences were irreconcilable.
The scars of the shattering chain of events which followed reverberate into the present as Maddox finds himself faced with impossible choices, and a timeless love…
Part contemporary romance, part historical western, this intertwined tale of love and redemption is a stand alone novel with no cliffhanger.
*Contains explicit language and sexual situations not recommended for readers under the age of 18.*

Review:

Kym has done it again!  Dimitri was the latest great book in a great series, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.  There were plenty of unexpected story line twists and human nature.  I was stunned with so many fun and interesting things that would not have occurred to me, but I loved it!  After all, what is the fun of reading a book if you do not have an interesting plot and watch others lose their way and choose one path over another.  So, all in all, a great book and I cannot wait for the next one!
